Apple has acquired Texture, the magazine subscription service that has been described as a “Netflix for magazines.”

The paid subscription service is a joint venture by publishing giants including Conde Nast, Time Inc., Meredity and Hearst, providing users online access to more than 200 magazines, the New York Post explained. Texture charges $9.99 a month for access to monthly publications such as Vogue and Cosmopolitan as well as $14.99 a month for weeklies like the New Yorker.

Could this be the answer for publications struggling through making their business model work through a cooperative deal with the Silicon Valley giant to charge for content?
